Steven Higgins

With over 20 years of experience in financial planning, investments, tax planning, and risk management, Steven brings a comprehensive approach to identifying and implementing strategies for clients. He believes that communication is the cornerstone of a successful financial planning relationship and continually seeks innovative ways to enhance the client-advisor communication process. Steven takes pride in the recognition Higgins & Schmidt has received for its forward-thinking approach to client relationships.
Steven co-founded Higgins & Schmidt Wealth Strategies with Allison Schmidt in 2010. Prior to that, he worked as a financial advisor with Edward Jones Investments and began his career in financial planning with Country Insurance in 2002.
Steven is a dedicated husband and father of three daughters. He resides in his hometown of Broomfield, Colorado, where he takes great pride in his community. Passionate about mentoring young athletes and giving back, Steven has served as the Board Chair of the 17th Judicial District VALE Board (Victim Advocacy & Law Enforcement) and is a past president of the Broomfield Rotary Club.
An avid sports enthusiast, Steven is especially passionate about cheering for his daughters as collegiate track and field athletes. When he’s not at the office or the track, you can often find him at the gym, running, cycling, snowboarding, playing guitar, reading, or relaxing with a glass of bourbon alongside his two golden retrievers.
Allie & I founded Higgins & Schmidt with the original purpose of providing an elevated experience for our clients. Fifteen years later, the mission stays the same. The client experience is the focus of our daily processes, development, and growth.
